About this deal

I have, like most of my friends, the popular radio Baofeng UV-5R plus. There is now an updated model from Baofeng called GT-3. The GT-3TP is one of the many ‘triple powers’ on the market. The last one I reviewed was the Intek KT-980HP, and some results are comparable. The Intek did much better on harmonic suppression, but the GT-3TP wins with its receiver and much better antenna. Note: Factory defaults frequency is 140-150/430-440MHz (8W Output), please reset the radio to reach 136-174/400-470MHz or program it to reach 470-520MHz (The software is the same as GT-3 Mark-II). False harmonics will only be displayed by an analyzer if you feed it with too much signal. A beginner’s fault which will overload the mixer. Another interesting quirk of the Baofeng GT-3TP is that most handheld radios these days have a higher power output on the 2m band than the 70cm band, not this one! The Baofeng GT-3TP outputs only 2.9 watts on 2m but ups that to 4.5 watts on 70cm. That makes the Baofeng GT-3 dual band unique in my collection of handhelds.

The in-hand feel is pretty good although I find myself holding the Baofeng GT-3TP differently than most of my other radios and I really like the belt clip which is shaped a bit differently than standard and has a slot cut into it which helps with the whole sport look thing. Special Optimization: Optimized SQL settings and modulation of TX/RX power tubes to improve the quality and stability of the transmission. There are also 50 CTCSS/104 DCS to provide group calling convenience and reduce external interference. Frequency Range: 65-108 MHz (Only commercial FM radio reception), VHF: 136-174 MHz (Rx/TX), UHF: 400-520 MHz (Rx/TX). My advice to a novice is that if you aren’t completely committed to this hobby and prepared to put in extra patience to work out programming kinks, you will be saving quite a bit of money buying the BaoFeng GT-3TP.i cant help wondering if the GT-3 really is special, or if the improvements are on the whole uv-5r range. product_description": "Cette partie est utilisée pour la fiche du produit. If you use an FTDI cable, it does not need to be installed with a driver. You can just plug in and use directly. The case of the GT3 models have easy grip rubber orange sides. The corners are rounded and the overall form factor feels very comfortable in the hand. The volume knob has a rubberized ring that makes it very easy to turn. VOX Function: Enjoy handsfree operations with the built-in VOX function of the portable walkie talkies. With a portable and sturdy body, you can rest assured that it will be the perfect partner for you on the road.

This is what everyone likes about these radios: more power. A standard UV-5R or GT-3 will deliver around 4 Watts on VHF and 3 Watts on UHF. Note: those few extra Watts won’t help you much if you want to extend your range. Range depends for 99% on other factors, such as terrain and antenna height. The battery will drain much faster though. no_content": "Cette section ne contient actuellement aucun contenu. Ajoutez-en en utilisant la barre latérale." Big buttons & knob: GT-3TP has built in PTT key, CALL key, and MONI key on the left side of the radio

My review sample had an unusual frequency range: 140 – 160 MHz and 430 – 441 MHz. Because my sample came directly from Sainsonic’s head office, I think that this particular radio was originally intended for another region. It’s not really important; if you want a wider range you can set other boundaries by software.) New 23CM High Gain Antenna allows GT-3TP Mark III to transmit up to 5+ miles. (much further line-of-sight) If you are a vendor and want to have your radio supported by CHIRP, please see InformationForVendors

Overall, this radio comes at a great value. It’s a fully featured ham radio that sells at a very affordable price. It’s perfect for throwing in each bug-out-bag for members of the family. Unlike a super premium brand, you don’t have to spend thousands of dollars if you need to get a bunch of these radios. If you have older kids, they will probably enjoy learning the different features and you don’t have to stress over them being rough with these units. We will publish it in a little while, as our blog is moderated.", So yeah, not at all happy at this point. But then something funny happened, I started using the Baofeng GT-3TP and found it was actually a pretty good radio! product_description": "This area is used to describe your product’s details. Tell customers about the look, feel, and style of your product. Add details on color, materials used, sizing, and where it was made.",The car charger is actually 10 volts rather than the typical 12 volts. The charging cradle of the GT-3TP is specifically designed to take a maximum of 10 volts. It’s actually a nice gesture on behalf of Baofeng to keep the parts consistent. The annoying bit is that you still need to connect the car charger to the charging cradle rather than directly into the radio for car charging.

Upgraded Antenna: The 21cm high gain antenna has better stability and performance compared to the old antenna. Combined with 8W high output power, the dual band two-way radio can even extend the talking range up to 11km. The BaoFeng GT-3TP comes with a variety of accessories. Inside the box, you’ll find the Sainsonic antenna (70 cm and 2m), a charging adapter, charging cradle, 10 volt car port charger, 2-prong earpiece with mic. The 7.4 volt/1800 mAh battery is also included as well as the screw on belt clip and lanyard. To that disappointment, you can add that the Baofeng GT-3TP’s Call and MONI buttons above and below the PTT button are super squishy things that have absolutely no place on an amateur radio. Yech! Remembers the last folder loaded from or saved to between sessions Supports serial ports up to COM256
