Alongside the Classic Animation kits, the LEGO Disney 100th anniversary theme will also be seeing another collection of sets. Adding another six creations into the mix, the Disney Princess lineup will fittingly feature a series of iconic characters spanning everything from Snow White up to more recently-released favorites of Anna and Elsa. Prices will be covering the usual bases of delivering smaller kits and more display-worthy models alike. The only thing left to construct at this point is the fireworks, which are identical. They attach quite sturdily via clear rods, and they bring a huge amount of “Disney magic” to the look (after all, even beyond the iconic Disney film intro, Disney is rumored to be the single largest consumer of fireworks in the United States thanks to their nightly shows). After getting it all pieced together, there’s so much I want to talk about at both ends of the scale. On one hand, the kit is just so massive and demands a dedicated space to display it unlike almost any other build out there. The whole thing stands 31.5 inches tall while measuring 23 inches wide and 13 inches deep on the base. This isn’t going to fit into just any LEGO or Disney collection, but the display space this will take up is certainly worth it.

As a whole, this is a stellar lineup of minifigures with heavy hitters spanning Disney’s history. The pairings make a lot of sense, and also tie-in nicely with the Disney World/Disney Land performer experience. The 2023 LEGO Disney Castle also comes with eight minifigures, featuring Cinderella and Prince Charming, Snow White and Prince Florian, Tiana and Prince Naveen, as well as Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, a great collection of iconic Disney Princesses spanning Disney’s history, and their male counterparts. Prince Naveen is great, coming with epaulettes and a yellow cape, and a great expression. It’s a great pairing that will delight Princess and the Frog fans, but it’ll be a shame if this is his only appearance in minifigure form.

The big drawcard of the set of course, are the new Disney princesses, with Cinderella, Snow White and Rapunzel making their debut as LEGO minifigures, as well as their male counterparts, which makes this almost a must-own for diehard Disney fans. Out the front, there’s a swirl of leaves which is a Pocahontas reference, as well as a green frog which is a nod to Princess and the Frog! Tiago notes that finding a place big enough to keep 43222 Disney Castle is going to be a challenge in itself too. Set number 43222 isn’t the first time we’ve seen Disney Castle get the LEGO treatment over the years, but it is the most impressive. The new rendition celebrating the 100th anniversary of Disney fittingly pulls out all of the stops to deliver what I can only describe as one of the coolest LEGO kits of all time. It’s a gorgeous display model that measures 80cm (31″) call, 59cm (23″) wide and 33cm (13″) deep making this the ultimate LEGO Disney castle to display.Unfortunately, the 2016 does exist, and because this is essentially a minor refresh, most noticeably with a new colour scheme, the novelty does wear off, especially if you own the original, weakening the case to upgrade your Disney Castle unless you have the money, and space, or are a helpless completionist. There’s also Snow White’s poison apple, which is hidden somewhere that’s difficult to access after building – a bit of an odd choice. The set comes complete with eight minifigures, representing some of the Disney Princess characters and their male counterparts. Inside the castle are various rooms including a kitchen and dining room, a ballroom and bedroom. Each room has references to Disney films and characters, and there is even a secret turret for fans to discover a Disney time capsule with references to the 100-year history. Outside, the castle is decorated with fireworks.
