About this deal

Both the EasyPress and the EasyPress 2 will up the quality of your designs. They have very similar capabilities. Cricut has a very handy guide outlining the differences between the EasyPress and the EasyPress 2, as well as a traditional iron and a lower cost heat press.

Unlike regular industrial presses, the EasyPress 2 is easily transportable thanks to its lightweight plastic body, and a base that allows to move it around safely. They have improved several aspects, the first version was only available in one size and one color, now some of the sizes are available in a range of colors. This bag, with all of its multiple layers, was super easy to create with the larger sized EasyPress 2, especially since I was using foil iron on. Iron on foil burns very easily and you have to be careful not to “overcook” it. With a smaller press, you have to move it around, and you may overlap areas that you already pressed. A single press ensures an even heating time on all parts of the design and ensures the foil doesn’t burn. Gets hotter—precise temperature control up to 400°F (205°C); the original EasyPress has precise temperature control up to 360°F (180°C). All Cricut iron-on products can be used in layering, but Cricut recommends using some materials as final layers only: foil, glitter, holographic, and holographic sparkle iron-on. Additionally, SportFlex Iron-On should be layered on top of other SportFlex Iron-On only—that’s from Cricut. I’ve never worked with SportFlex. For best results, don’t include more than four layers on designs.I’m going to be totally honest with you—if you only do a few heat transfer or iron-on projects a year, you probably don’t need an EasyPress or EasyPress 2. But if you do a lot of crafting work, this bad boy will up your quality while also saving you time. And if you sell your products, you need a heat press to ensure uniform, professional results across your projects.

Another benefit of the EasyPress in comparison to an industrial heat press is the size and the weight, heat presses are bulky and extremely heavy. So if you plan to make small projects, your best bet would be to go with either the 6×7 inches or the 9×9 inches. Note: Ensure your design is within the maximum recommended design sizes for using Cricut EasyPress Mini with Infusible Ink (2.75" W x 2.75" L or 1.625" W x 5" L). I cut my design from Design Space on my Cricut Maker. Make sure to always mirror your images when working with iron-on. Then I carefully weeded out the negative space using a weeding tool. Step 2: Prep mat, base material, and EasyPress Cut your design: First you need to cut your design and weed it, remember that you need to mirror the design before cutting if you are using heat transfer vinyl for your project. in this case, I am going to share the sample project that comes with the Easypress 2, so I didn't have to cut it and the carrier sheet comes with the shape of the graphic, so there is no weeding to do.

Avoid seams, buttons, and zippers when positioning Cricut EasyPress on base material. If the heat plate crosses over these things the design will not receive even heat, resulting in unwanted effects. When applying designs to u nusual objects, around seams, or in hard-to-reach places, use Cricut EasyPress Mini.

Once you think about it, it makes sense because you don't want any wrinkles or moisture before pressing, and preheating takes care of that for you. Today I’m sharing the complete guide to using your Cricut EasyPress to complete beautiful, professional-looking iron-on and heat transfer projects in your own home. Cricut’s EasyPress line combines the speed, accuracy, and reliability of a professional heat press with the approachability of an iron. RELATED: Thinking about getting a Cricut machine? Read my easy guide to Cricut cutting machines here. Cricut originally released the EasyPress in 2017, and it came only in a 9” x 9” machine. The company then release the EasyPress 2 in 2018, which comes in three different sizes: 6” x 7” (ideal for smaller items like baby clothes), 9” x 9” (ideal for everyday use), and 12” x 10” (ideal for larger format projects).

Didn’t it turn out amazing? I love all of the different textures with the matte, foil, and glitter finishes. EasyPress vs EasyPress 2: What Are the Differences? Use a Cricut EasyPress Mat or Cricut Pressing Mat rather than a folded towel. Towels hold too much moisture and cause unwanted transfer effects. Use a protective sheet. Teflon sheets are the best way to not only protect your press but also your projects. I learned this lesson when using my regular iron, you need to be cautious as possible when using heat, and especially with the temperatures that the EasyPress achieves to do sublimation projects, you should always protect them using Teflon sheets! Layering materials is an easy way to add dimension to your heat transfer projects. (See my tutorial for how to layer iron-on vinyl for more!) In fact, there are many Cricut designs out there that are designed specifically with layering in mind. They have multiple layers that are placed on top or one another to create the final image.

Before getting an EasyPress 2, I did a bunch of research, so by the time I received mine, I had a bunch of helpful tips already written down. Size: The original Easy Press comes in one size, 9×9. The EasyPress 2 comes in three different sizes – 6×7, 9×9, and 12×10. Use the Cricut Heat Guide or Cricut Heat app (for Cricut EasyPress 3) to determine project settings. The EasyPress is not just a beautiful machine design-wise, it's also a very intuitive and easy to use heat machine. Design sizes for application with Cricut EasyPress Mini range from the smallest area you can reach with the precision tip up to a surface area that is about 2X the heat plate. Recommended settings are optimized with the maximum sizes in mind:One great tip from the folks at Cricut is to fold your base material in half and use your EasyPress to create small creases in the material. This will for a plus sign on your base material that will help guide you when placing larger items. But, one thing worth mentioning is that Cricut sends you materials for you to create your first project with all cutting machines as well as with the EasyPress 2. Use the EasyPress heat setting guide. The guys at Cricut did a wonderful job of setting up an interactive guide that covers most materials. This guide will guide you in the exact setting you should use your press
