The MSRA is delivered globally on several consecutive days in a large number of Pearson VUE Computer Testing Centres. The course covers : The MSRA – Clinical Problem Solving paper – types and level of questions, practice questions, reading lists, understanding keywords in the exam. Then there's a five-minute break and then there's the clinical problem solving paper, which is 75 minutes. That being said, the MSRA is competitive, and as discussed previously, outperforming your peers can have significant advantages for your ST recruitment; therefore, the importance of preparing well for the MSRA should not be underestimated. To ensure that you’re confident in all aspects of the exam and can perform well, give yourself adequate time to prepare for both test papers – Professional Dilemmas and Clinical Problem Solving – and make sure you cover all topics in the Clinical Problem Solving paper.I'd spend the first few days making sure you understand the MSRA exam and then plan to do a few hours a day of questions getting through as many questions as possible. For some specialties, if you score highly on the MSRA, you can bypass the interview stage of recruitment, meaning there are huge advantages of preparing effectively and performing well in the MSRA. Examples of some of the less common question types are included so you know what to expect (Multiple best answers, algorithm, fill in the blank). Pilot questions are also included alongside the test for the purpose of item development; however, you will not be scored on these. Within the 86 questions, there are two types of questions, making up roughly half of the questions each.

On the day each candidate is given different questions from a central question bank so the person sat next to you will have a different set of questions, which is done to limit any cheating or sharing of answers with candidates sitting the exam on different days. After the application period for your preferred specialty has ended, and you've been shortlisted, you'll have the opportunity to register with Pearson VUE and schedule an interview score your MSRA, provided you meet the eligibility requirements specified in the application process.
