About this deal

I'm really enjoying being at Seven Dials and meeting the characters that make the area such a lively place. If you do require precise ingredient information you should consult the manufacturer, whose contact details will appear on the packaging or label. I have lived in Brighton for roughly 25 years and worked within the beer industry for much of that time. Based in Port of Spain, Trinidad the companies mainstay Angostura Bitters were originally created in the 1820’s for treating stomach ailments in Venezuela where their creator Dr. Grapefruit is one of those flavours that is often forgotten about but here it takes the centre stage and is supported by the spicy botanicals mix that The Bitter Truth is known for.

Which is why, we pride ourselves on ensuring your bottles are well protected for their journey from us to you. Combining the same classic ingredients for nearly 200 years, Angostura bitters are a key ingredient in many famous cocktails, often paired with gin and rum to great effect. Made from its own special recipe, ANGOSTURA® orange bitters is a complex blend of tropical oranges and spices.

Angostura orange bitters is an essential ingredient for many cocktails, including the daiquiri, classic martini and old fashioned. I've lived in Brighton for over 20 years and studied at the University of Brighton and Plumpton College. Clear and with an unparalleled depth of flavour, these exotic and versatile bitters work incredibly well with vodka, gin and whisky, and add a real depth of flavour to rum cocktails. It is created from sun-ripened, hand harvested Caribbean oranges, and provide an excellent accompaniment to vodka, gin, whisky, rum, savoury sauces, seafood dishes and chocolate. Angostura Orange bitters is created from its own secret recipe and contains none of the ingredients found in Angostura aromatic bitters. The oranges are picked by hand by selected citrus growers and harvest only within the rainy season to ensure ultimate freshness and taste. Imported directly from Italy, each jar is home to around 50 cherries and even a single cherry can be enough to add a sweet, decadent edge to your drinks.

Made from its own special recipe, Anostura orange bitters is a complex blend of tropical oranges and spices. Exported to England soon after, Angostura grew its reputation through a fondness for mixing with gin. A classic example of bitters, one of the few that survived US Prohibition, flavours of orange and geranium are most prominent followed by spicy cardamom and coriander. Of course, the signature cocktail with Peychaud’s is the Sazerac but the subtle yet spicy flavour makes it a great choice for a wide range of cocktails from Old Fashioned to Whiskey Sours and the overriding flavour in each sip is aromatic cloves. While we have taken care in preparing this summary and believe it is accurate, it is not a substitute for your reading the product packaging and label prior to use.

Now, with the resurgence of classic cocktails, there is significant demand for a high quality orange bitters. A thing of austere beauty: a lump of sugar, dissolved with a little water and two dashes of bitters, whiskey, a bit of ice and a lemon peel garnish. Its complex and layered notes, anchored by a balanced orange zest flavour, work incredibly well with all spirits. Angostura is the first expansion of the great bitter now with a high quality and concentrated orange flavour, making this perfect for use in the highest of quality cocktails. It has an unparalleled depth of flavour, making it an essential to have behind any bar and in any kitchen. Albans and after some moving around ended up in Brighton in 2019 and pretty much started working at Seven Cellars straight away!
