It’s very high pitched and scratchy sounding - I’m not sure how to stop that and only play through my speakers. That 1/8-inch aux input on the back panel works well to connect a music player that isn’t Bluetooth capable and use the Air LP’s Bluetooth transmitter. With many modern turntables conforming to an almost identical aesthetic, ION Audio deserves brownie points for coming up with something a bit different. I bought it to add my vinyl collection to the digital world and Bluetooth is an enjoyable positive asset. In addition to the Bluetooth connectivity, the ION Audio Air LP also features an integrated USB connection.

Put Air LP where it's convenient for you and put your Bluetooth speaker where it sounds best - the sound is transmitted wirelessly and your days of fumbling with connection cables are finally over. We found the stated 10-metre Bluetooth range to be just about accurate, but if you want to play your records without having to worry about your signal dropping out, there are also RCA outputs for connecting to speakers or a stereo system using cables. Perhaps unsurprisingly, we found that the overall quality was better when the turntable was connected to our speakers via wires, but it sounded perfectly fine when streamed via Bluetooth. I mean, when a proper stylus can cost 10X or far more than this entire unit, it smacks of silly to think this device makes sense for them. It doesn’t let you edit the converted file, so make sure to start and stop the recording quickly, because you can’t edit out long pauses.
