I feel like this book could have benefited from a longer build up, it would have made more sense for what happens towards the end. This is the first book I've read by Liliana Carlisle and I can definitely say I loved every second of it.

I had very low expectations going in but the level of incompetence and stupidity exhibited by literally every single person in this book is astonishing. Also, when it comes to dual POV books I prefer ones that are written in first person, not third person. I remember adding this book to my tbr from a tiktok that I had seen but when I first began reading it this morning, I had no recollection of what made me add it to my tbr and I decided not to read what it was about, and just go straight into it. While Erik's true motivation is unsurprising and I don't entirely agree with the book's central message, I did like the characters: two broken souls who found solace, empathy, and understanding in each other.He believes his actions are justified because of a prophecy by the Ancients predicting my undoing by the hands of a friend.
