What makes this Bumblebee unique is its paint job. Red was meant to give the line variety — and make it look like there was more product — but it only lasted for a couple of runs in the early 1980s. In a happy accident of cross-compatibility, Tenseg Base Optimus Prime can be equipped with the armor and alternate head included with Shattered Glass Collection Ultra Magnus to replicate the red cab variant of Diaclone Powered Convoy released in GiG's short-lived Trasformer [ sic] toyline, minus Super Buggy. Sold separately are two alternately colored bases; one in heroic Autobot red and the other in EVIL Decepticon purple. Initially due for release in March 2022, Prime and the bases were eventually released on June 30. Other notes of interest: Metal plates variant. One broken trailer door hinge. Complete (standard purple roller variant) but hose accessory is not original and does not fit correctly into nozzle.This version of Optimus, part of the Kreon Class of 1984, lays heavy on the toy-based tampographs (though they are completely different from the other iterations), and like the others in the set, has a more animation-model-inspired face deco, what with having a nose and all. Rumor about the Classics lineup that turned out to be spot on aside from Voyager Soundwave and Deluxe Optimus Prime. Very pleasingly, LEGO Transformers 10302 Optimus Prime more than manages to do that, perhaps thanks in part to such a surprisingly large piece count for this set. 1,508 pieces can go a long way on a single build and – in the right designer’s hands here, where not a single piece has been wasted – have come together to masterfully capture the same spirit of that original 1984 toy, while also embracing some of the opportunities to modernise the design as per mo Figure only, (trailer only, standard purple innards variant, includes trailer door), c9 (excellent with nothing broken or repaired!)*. His transformation shares engineering with the Thrilling 30 Legends figure, but with sculpted detailing directly based on the Earthrise mold, down to details like the vestigial knee flaps from the Siege mold. The included Ion Blaster features a 3 mm handle under a 5 mm post, dedicated to the C.O.M.B.A.T. System. He is also fairly articulated for a figure this small, having head rotation and tilting, torso rotation (which actually looks a bit unnatural), ab crunch, butterfly joints at the shoulders, and ball joints in shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees.
