The sun has finally come out to play, and all everyone wants to do is be in the sunshine. But in all our excitement we can’t forget the importance of keeping your skin safe.
Bright red people wandering the streets is a common sight, but sunburn is both unattractive and painful. Sunburn is caused by UV rays, which don’t actually feel warm, so even if there is a cool breeze or you are in the sea you can end up burnt. Not only does it look awful, it is terrible for your health as well. The bright red appearance of the skin is from the swelling of blood vessels and the blood rushing into them. Prolonged exposure to UV rays can also increase chances of melanomas and skin cancer.
The answer is sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen! You need to be able to choose the right SPF for you, and remembering to reapply throughout the day. Sunglasses are also important, in protecting your eyes and stopping you squinting which can lead to crow’s feet.
Sunscreen will protect your skin from the outside, but a big problem in the summers heat is dehydration. Almost all models swear by drinking plenty of water and keeping well hydrated with plenty of water as well, you will feel a lot better and your skin will thank you for it too!
