A Modern Icon

Blessed with an ‘insanely high’ instep (read-inability to wear flats) and a dream job to boot (fashion editor of style bible, Australian Harper’s Bazaar) it’s no wonder Christine can pull together a killer look. Her style encapsulates the perfect balance between rock n roll extravagance and classic elegance, whilst somehow avoiding looking too overdone. Christine’s seamless ability to mix and match started attracting the attention of the fashion paparazzi circa early 2009 when Scott Schumann featured her on The Sartorialist. A colour pop Josh Goot dress teamed with patent YSL booties and a structured black jacket cemented her fashion credentials.
Of all the ‘editorista’s,’* Christine’s style is one of the more accessible, making her a great inspiration. While it is always fun to see Anna Dello Russo prancing around in deluxe designer garments, recreating the look on a high street budget proves a significant challenge. While Ms Centenera is also a designer fan (Gucci, Balmain, YSL, Balenciaga and Marant to name a few) she is applauded for purchasing trans-seasonal staples that can be worn time and time again. A penchant for leather and studs; her signature silhouette compromises of short hemlines and tailored jackets, or slouchy trousers and structured shoulders-always finished with a pair of statement heels. Luckily for us, it is far easier to find high street knock offs to obtain Christine’s coveted looks. Below are a collection of photo’s showcasing her flawless style.

The name Kate now seems to be synonymous with amazing tastes in wedding couture. Just over two months since the Duchess of Cambridge glided down the aisle in that McQueen creation, Kate Moss married Jamie Hince wearing a vintage inspired Galliano. Understated glamour is what Kate does best and the floor length fitted dress was no exception. Thesimplistic silhouette echoed the nostalgic elegance of the 1920s while sequins and sheer panelling added drama. A delicately embroidered veil with a smattering of silver sequins was the crowning glory, complimenting Kate’s loose bohemian waves and ethereal beauty.
While Galliano has been unable to avoid the negative glare of the media in recent times, his talent as a designer is undeniable. The fashion world was reminded of his brilliance when pictures of Kate surfaced, prompting glowing reviews. The workmanship of the gown seemed to perfectly capture the very essence of Moss and the free spiritedness she radiates. Surely a welcome commendation for Galliano; who awaits a court verdict in September following his dismissal from Christian Dior.
Each year graduates from around 50 universities across the UK come together at Graduate Fashion Week to exhibit their talent and designs. They have the honour of launching some of the biggest designers in British Fashion today including Christopher Bailey, Stella McCartney and Julian MacDonald.

Six of our lovely BM Models will be walking on the catwalk to showcase the graduate’s designs from the University of Brighton through an independent event they are hosting today. Furthermore our model Bernadette will be in the lookbook produced for the students final creations.
BM Models feels great pride in being able to support the next generation of fashion and loves the opportunity to work with creative students and graduates, we offer special rates for our student clientele as we understand that money can sometimes be a bit tight for them.
On a warm Thursday night in Brighton town, in the gothic grandeur of St Martins church BFW 2011 bought us their Brighton Frocks theatrical catwalk spectacular.
The show featured twelve designers and the audience was treated to more than just the standard catwalk, each of the collection put on a performance for the audience with saucy seaside antics, ballet dancers and superheros all mixed up with the designs. Each of the collections was brilliantly unique and kept the audience thoroughly transfixed.
BM Models Bernadette, Bethany and Ngozi walked that night, and looked fantastic on the catwalk for Red Mutha, Former Glory and Afton Ayache.

In a competitive industry it can be difficult for small business and creative graduates to get a foothold in the staggering £37 billion UK fashion industry. This is where Fashion Trust wants to make a difference; they are a Sussex based organisation that aims to help fledgling designers and their new businesses. One way in which they do this is through the Fashion Sussex Award, to raise awareness and profile the various aspects of the fashion industry in Sussex.
This year BM Models is honoured that they have asked our creative director Bethania to be on the board of judges to help decide the winners for 2011.

Knowing what kind of dress to wear depends on the occasion and time of the year. It makes you look fashionable and also updated. Perhaps, you are not conversant with lingerie styles that are trending this year. Nevertheless, it is important to do your research first before you go shopping to ensure that you purchase pretty lingerie that you can wear throughout the year.
It is important to consider the color of the lingerie you purchase…
In 2012, R & B seems to have taken over the reign of colors. In the past, people had chosen orange color. This was very common in different occasions. Today, red and blue lingerie pieces are being seen all over. Perhaps, this might change later on in the year when many women will start to wear breezy blue and sensual red lingerie. You can also expect colors such as Indigo, scarlet red, violet, lilac, teal and magenta. This will give bright hues pops to different pieces of lingerie. Sublime colors may also feature later in the year. These include nude, cognac and also brown which might become basic lingerie staple pieces.
You also need to consider the style of the piece that you purchase…
Although some people are preferring plain lingerie with a single color, print styles might replace these lingerie in the future. Therefore, floral lingerie pieces may come back in a different twist. Instead of choosing regular daisy lingerie, you may choose blooms. Although they may look tribal and may be primitive, they are likely to be trendy later after everyone has bought the red and blue pieces. Vintage inspired lingerie may also appear later in the year. This style may be very crucial especially for those who like fun with their undergarments.
Go for a bustier…
Just like lingerie, bustiers have been worn for a long time. They have a Basque shape that nips in slimming the waist and still giving support to the bust. Bustier is also trendy this year in different styles and colors which you may consider when you’re buying a lingerie.
Fabrics is another factor that you need to consider when buying your lingerie…
When it comes to creating lingerie, the trendy fabrics are satin silk and sheers. Nevertheless, the fabric used to make lingerie is not of great importance when you’re buying a lingerie. Many people will usually go for an undergarment that gives them extra delicateness and sensuality. Basically, when you look at the 2012 lingerie trends you will realize that many ladies are going for garments that add feminine vibe in them.
You can get trending lingerie pieces in a number of outlets today. Some are available in local boutiques while others are available online. Visiting a store that has a wide range of collection is important because it enables you to choose the one that pleases you and also bring out the elegance in you.
