FAD Competition A/W 2010

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Another highlight of the week was watching top model Bethany walking for the final of the biannual FAD competition. FAD is a marvelous organisation that seek to prepare young people for the realities of working in the fashion industry through a series of workshops, competitions and work placements. The standard of work nurtured by FAD is of such a high standard that is is given the honour of being showcased each season on the Vauxhall Fashion Scout Catwalk as part of London Fashion Week.

BM Models were there in force to watch our girl Bethany on the catwalk and had the pleasant surprise of bumping into our old friends – fashion production super-duo Reeme and Nina aka The Collective Biz.

Pierre Garroudi Show

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

We were delighted to receive an invite to Pierre Garroudi’s exclusive showcase of his A/W 2010 collection. Having preciously been a guest member of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture
alongside the likes of Christian Dior, Givenchy, Christian Lacroix and Chanel – Garroudi now works from his south London Gallery – also the venue for his biannual showcases.

Obviously a fashion show wouldn’t be a fashion show unless it was running the standard half an hour to an hour late. Luckily enough we were in the good company of top artistic photographer Max Letek and long standing good-time girl Emma Walsh – and there was a pub directly opposite. Sorted.

The show itself was well… red. The dresses were all sultry red in colour, and avant-garde in design – either clinging daringly to the models’ figures or framing them with lashings of crimson fabric.

The hair was also red (as were the lips) and defied gravity, ranging from what can only be described as a straight-up-do – towering over the model’s head in one peak to feathered do’s projecting horizontally behind the model. And everything on between. Literally everything.

Our very own Brighton Model Grace was bestowed the honour of opening the show followed down the line with another of our Brighton Models Imogen. Chem ‘em aaaatt!

We’re pretty sure we spotted Zandra Rhodes in the front row too!

Diamante are forever

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

There is seemingly no end to the photographic talents of BM Models photographer Daniel Regan, when coupled with the styling and creative skills of our very own director in chief Bethania Matheus they produce images like this absolute gem (no pun intended). Check out this amazing pic of our very own Brighton Model Christina. Diamante are indeed forever.

And behind the camera……?

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Ever wondered what happens behing the scenes at a fashion shoot? What really goes on out of the view of the camera’s unforgiving lens?
Big personalities, tiffs, tears, tantrums and melodrama surely?

Well, big personalities defiantly, melodrama maybe but tears and tantrums? Tea and toast was more like it at the last BM Models photoshoot.

The usual suspects got together; make up artist Jonathon Walker, hair styling guru Ioanna Pitsillou-Kruizenga of Headmasters Brighton and photographer Peter Willams set about working their magic on BM Models’ Bethany, Mollie and Alannah.

Turns out that BM’s Director Bethania ain’t too bad behind the flasher herself – check out her exclusive behind the scenes photos below:

Ciao for now….

We're on the search…

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Well here at BM Models HQ it took us at least a day to get over our hangovers and make sense of the cracking night that was the very FIRST BM Models Scout Party! – Our weekly search for fresh new faces to join our Brighton modelling agency, which has already landed the nickname ‘Brighton’s next top model’.

Now if there was one obvious place to host the night, it would be none other than top Brighton venue and all round experts on all things slick and sexy: Madame Geisha. As per usual the Geisha’s crew lived up to their reputation and provided not just a stylish venue for us to party in but also fantastic cocktails, drink promos and hot DJs with heaps of bangin’ electro (BTW guys, try their Sunday roast, don’t ask questions, just do it.)

Back to the point, we had an amazing turn out of potential models and general party animals, our fab one man-hair and make up machine Adrian got to work in transforming the hopeful into the potential catwalk Kings and Queens tomorrow while top photographer Tony started snapping the models. Check out some of the gorgeous photographs at the end of this post.

Join us every Wednesday from 10 till 3 at Madame Geisha (East Street, Brighton) for the second round of the search for Brighton’s next top model. See you there…

And now for the photo’s, first – a few of the BM team letting their hair down:
