When the sugar breaks down, it combines with the pickle juice to create a brine that marinates even further. They also make an excellent spicy addition to cheese and charcuterie boards and are delicious served alongside rice dishes and stir-fries. These pickles are made with a room temperature brine, which means that you can skip the stovetop step (and the intense vinegar smell that comes with it).
